Kevin Shand, Director of the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media, Elected to Association of Film Commissioners International Board
 
Denver, CO; October 14, 2009 - The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) announces that Kevin Shand, Director of the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media was elected to the association's international board of directors. Shand will begin his term on the 13-member board of directors in January.
 
"I'm thrilled to be chosen by my peers to be part the AFCI board and to help lead our industry," said Kevin Shand. "This means Colorado has a place at the table in helping to shape the future of the industry and provides us the ability to interact directly with industry leaders around the world and will help us to improve our product," he added.
 
The Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media is a division of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade. Prior to July 1, 2009, the office was a private nonprofit, the Colorado Film Commission. Shand has been with the organization since 2005 and director since 2006.
 
AFCI is the official professional organization for film commissioners who assist film, television and video production throughout the world. It is a non-profit, educational association whose members serve as city, county, state, regional, provincial or national film commissioners for their respective governmental jurisdictions.
 
There are more than 300 AFCI-member film commissions worldwide, covering almost every continent, nation and state where film production activity takes place.
 
Also elected to their first terms on the board are Drew Mayer-Oakes - San Antonio Film Commission (Texas), Ingrid Rudefors - Stockholm Film Commission (Stockholm Region, SWEDEN) and David Shepheard - Abu Dhabi Film Commission (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates)
                        
Re-elected to the board are Belle Doyle - Scottish Screen (Scotland, UK), Sue Hayes - Film London (England), Mark Stricklin - Birmingham-Jefferson Film Office (Alabama) and Lisa Strout - New Mexico Film Office (New Mexico).
 
Continuing board members are Janice Arrington - Orange County Film Commission (California), Walea Constantinau - Honolulu Film Office (Hawaii), Sten Iversen - Montana Film Office (Montana), Joan Miller - Vancouver Island North Film Commission (British Columbia, Canada) and Mary Nelson - Virginia Film Office (Virginia).
