Colorado Film Commission - Film and Commercial Production in Colorado


When Commercial or Film Production involves state road closure or impacts the normal flow of traffic, you'll need to obtain a onlineSpecial Event Permit from the Colorado State Patrol. You can apply online or you can download a PDF or Microsoft Word formatted application and mail or fax it to the Troop Commander of the appropriate Colorado State Patrol Office. A list of Colorado State Patrol Offices are provided below. Copies of W9 Federal Tax Identification Form along with a Certificate of Insurance in the amounts required by Colorado State Statute along with estimated costs of the event will need to be included with your application. If you are filming on a location off of the highway but will have several vehicles parked in the area along the road, you may need a special event permit depending if all vehicles are parked off the paved portion of the road and how it impacts the normal flow of traffic. The Colorado State Patrol recommends submission of your Special Events Application 60 days prior to start of production. Fees Colorado State Patrol Special Event Fees: Troopers $47.50/hour Civilian $33.70/hour Administrative Costs - 3% of total Personal Services Costs $25.00 Permit Fee Mileage Reimbursement for Patrol Car - 54 cents per mile/per Patrol Car Mileage Reimbursement for Motorcycle - 58 cents per mile/per Motorcycle.
