Colorado Film Commission - Film and Commercial Production in Colorado

Colorado Film Commission Names New Fundraising Director

February 5, 2007

Colorado State Film Commissioner Kevin Shand recently announced the addition of Marcia Morgan to the staff of the Colorado Film Commission.

In her new position as Director of Fund Development, Morgan is responsible for developing the Colorado Film Commission’s newly created membership program in addition to expanding corporate and grant support for the non-profit organization.

The newly created position is another step in the on-going effort to re-establish the Colorado Film Commission and to increase the operating budget of the organization. The Colorado Film Commission’s purpose is to expand economic development opportunities the film and television production industry offers Colorado by increasing the number of productions that film in state. The majority of state film commissions in the United States are divisions of state government and are totally funded by state dollars. Currently the Colorado Film Commission only receives a limited amount of operating funds from state government.

Marcia Morgan is a Colorado native, a University of Colorado alumnus and Boettcher Scholar. Before joining the Colorado Film Commission staff Morgan raised funds for an independent feature film that was shot in Colorado. She is also volunteer with the Colorado Ballet Auxiliary and Girls, Inc. Alliance.

Prior to returning to her home state, Marcia Morgan lived and worked in Los Angeles for fourteen years holding various marketing and fundraising positions for Fortune 100 companies as well as serving on several non-profit boards.

While in Los Angeles, Marcia Morgan earned her MBA from the University of Southern California in marketing and filmmaking.
