The Office of Economic Development & International Trade works with companies starting, expanding or relocating in Colorado. OEDIT offers a wide range of services to assist new and existing business of every size. A list of departments where those services can be accessed can be found below.
The Office of Economic Development & International Trade works with Colorado businesses, associations, universities, and others to encourage the growth and development of bioscience companies, the aerospace industry, and other emerging industries.
The Business Development team provides assistance to new and existing companies looking to expand or relocate in Colorado. Business Development Representatives provide a variety of technical assistance services including assistance with site selection, research on economic conditions and comparisons, and coordination with local and regional economic development agencies and services.
Business Finance staff are available to refer businesses to potential financing resources and to provide specific guidance on Finance programs offered by the State of Colorado. Refer to the links above for more information on these programs and links to outside resources.
The Colorado Council on the Arts, a division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, combines state funds with federal funds from the National Endowment for the Arts and invests in communities across the state to ensure that the cultural, educational and economic benefits of the arts are enjoyed by thousands of Colorado youth and millions of Colorado citizens and visitors every day.
The Colorado Economic Development Commission approves loans and grants from Colorado's economic development fund to public and private entities throughout the state to help existing businesses expand and new companies locate to Colorado. It also implements marketing programs to support ongoing business activities. Policy and funding decisions are made by commission members.
Colorado's Enterprise Zone program provides tax incentives to encourage businesses to locate and expand in designated economically distressed areas of the state. There are 18 enterprise zones and subzones in Colorado. Businesses located in an enterprise zone may qualify for ten different Enterprise Zone Tax Credits and Incentives to encourage job creation and investment.
The Colorado International Trade Office is the state government agency responsible for assisting Colorado companies with all aspects of exporting, including counseling, protocol, leading trade missions and conducting trade shows abroad. By promoting Colorado exports and attracting foreign investment, the International Trade Office helps to build Colorado's identity as an international business center, encouraging foreign buyers to look to Colorado for products and services. The International Trade Office is open to the public and most services are rendered at no cost.
The mission of the Minority Business Office is to promote development of existing and new minority businesses across the state with emphasis on rural areas that do not have access to information and technical help.
The Colorado Tourism Office was created to promote Colorado as a tourism and travel destination. The Colorado Tourism Office oversees eight Colorado Welcome Centers with helpful travel information conveniently located at the major highway gateways to the state; advertising and public relations to promote travel and tourism; sponsorship of research on trends in the Colorado travel and tourism industry and the economic impact of the industry in the state; plus customer response services and promotional materials, including maintenance of the official state travel website,the 1-800-COLORADO telephone information center and publication and distribution of Colorado's Official State Vacation Guide.
